2005 EMPIRE STATE WINTER GAMES SYNCHRONIZED SKATING INFORMATION
February 25 - 27, 2005 ● Lake Placid, NY

Application & Rules

A maximum of 12 (twelve) Synchronized Skating teams will be allowed entry into the 2005 Winter Games. All team members must be residents of the State of New York or show proof of full time status in a NYS School. Each team member will receive an ESG warm-up suit, including up to two alternates.

Team Size: Each team will consist of at least 12 skaters, but no more than 22 skaters, including a maximum of 2 (two) alternates.

Team Categories:

Teams will qualify as follows (using modified USFSA & ISI guidelines):

Note: Ages indicated are as of February 25, 2005 for all categories.

 

Senior: Skaters must have reached 14 years of age. Program Duration: 4½ minutes

 

Collegiate: Skaters must be enrolled in a New York college or university as a full time student and domiciled in New York State. Program Duration: 4½ minutes

 

Junior: Skaters must be between the ages of 12 and 18. Program Duration: 4 minutes

 

Intermediate: At least 75% of the skaters must be between 12 and 15 years of age. The remaining 25% of skaters may be between 9 & 11 years of age. Program Duration: 3½ minutes

 

Junior Classic: Skaters must be at least 12 years of age on the preceding July 1, with the majority of the skaters 18 years of age or younger. Program Duration: 4 minutes

Entry Deadline: The team entry form, roster, and entry form for each team member and their birth certificate must be received by 3pm, Tuesday, January 18, 2005. A postmark will NOT count. The Empire State Games is not responsible for mail lost, destroyed or delayed by the USPS or other delivery services.

Drawing: In the event that more than 12 teams apply, a drawing will be held from the Division with the most entries to determine the competing teams. If the number of teams submitted is more than 12, a drawing will take place on January 19, 2005 at 3:00PM in the Empire State Games office, Albany, NY. Teams not selected for the Games will have their entry fee refunded. No checks will be cashed until after the entry deadline.

Entry Fee: A charge of $125.00 per team and an additional $20 per skater is required. Checks should be made payable to: "ESG". If a drawing is necessary, any team that is not selected via the drawing will have their check returned by February 4, 2005. Entries submitted without the proper entry fee will be ruled ineligible, and the entry will be returned. Questions? Call the ESG Office at 518-474-8889. You MUST return the team entry form, team roster, as well as an entry form for each skater, with a copy of each skater’s birth certificate, and the entry fee to be considered entered.

Cancellations: If only one team in a category enters, that category of competition will be cancelled and the entry fee will be returned.

Refunds: Teams who submit entry forms and the fee and are unable to attend the Games will be entitled to a full refund of the entry fee IF THE GAMES OFFICE IS NOTIFIED IN WRITING AND THE REQUEST IS RECEIVED BY FEBRUARY 11, 2005. Request may be mailed to the address below or faxed to 518-474-7944.

ESG REGISTRATION & WARMUP PICKUP: Information regarding ESG Registration and Warmup pickup, as well as any special event announcements will be posted on the Games website by February 18. If a skater does not have access to the internet to obtain this information, he/she should call the ESG Office to have the information mailed.
