Boy's Ice Hockey Additional Information

Residency Requirement: In addition to the age requirement noted above, boys trying out for Ice Hockey must be residents of New York State as of December 31, 2008.

Registration and Tryouts: All applicants must register online and will be emailed a registration confirmation; there are no paper entry forms.
Tryouts for Boy's Ice Hockey in the Empire State Games are by invitation only.
Boys must enter online by December 31, 2008 to be guaranteed a scout visit. An applicant may register online after December 31, 2008, however there is no guarantee that he will be evaluated by a scout.
Players who register online by December 31, 2008 will be scouted by ESG Volunteers during the hockey season.
After the hockey season ends, approximately 60 skaters plus goalies will be invited to an on-ice tryout in their respective regions. From this tryout a team of 18 skaters plus two goalies will be selected to represent their region at the Games, to be held in the Poughkeepsie, NY area July 22 - 26, 2009.

There is no entry fee or charge for ice time.

Players may contact their Regional Director to determine if the invitations to the ESG tryout have been made.

Playing schedule: The athlete must send a copy of their team game schedule to their regional ice hockey coordinator (listed below).  Failure to submit a game schedule in a timely fashion may result in a player not being scouted.  NOTE:  sending the game schedule to the Regional Hockey Coordinator does not register a skater for the Games - applicants must also register online to be considered for the Games.
